Current Alias: Sylvaine Faolan (pronounced: fWHALE-in)

Birth Name: Sylvaine Quemilien

Race: Elezen

Tribe: Wildwood

Gender: Female

Age: 26

Name Day: 20th Sun of the 5th Astral Moon 1551

Orientation: Lesbian

Height 6'7"/200cm(Max height)

Marital Status: Possibly married? I'd have to ask Cinder about the "canon" quality of Apple but she would deff be married to a cute miqo'te so I'll note it here.

Nationality: Ishgardian born, raised in La Noscea

Current Residence: La Noscea, The Mist

Occupation: Dodo Rancher

Class/Job: Dragoon

Patron Deity: Nophica

Likes: Dodos, cute things, spending time outside

Dislikes: Pirates with no sense of respect, bigots, general bullies and not nice folk

Favorites: Dodo Omelettes, she won't turn down a good ale

Hobbies: Likes going for long chocobo rides, making omelettes.

Motivation: She just wants to live her life, and if she can right injustices along the way, that's even better.

Outlook: Everyone deserves a second chance

Disposition: Cheerful, homely

Positive Personality Traits: Amiable, good listener, whimsical

Negative Personality Traits: Can be stubborn, tunnel visions, willful

Any standout quirks or behaviors?: Has a tendency to stare at one spot if nothing else is keeping her attention, and stands very still. Both are habits from taking care of dodos for her whole life.

Rumors: Common She doesn't even eat dodo meat. Rare She once nearly killed an Ishgardian debt collector.

Relationships: She's quite close with both her parents, moreso with her mother though

Pets: Has a brown chocobo and a dwarf dodo

Backstory: Sylvaine was born to an upper-middle class family in Ishgard. Her parents were somewhat young, and very much in love. Her mother Amenie was a weaver hobbyist, and her father Bernon was the son of a minor noble who had passed away and left his small fortune to his only son. What had started as a way to soothe the nerves accompanying the arrival of his first child turned into much more, and her father developed an addiction to gambling during Sylvaine's first and second years of life.

Before long, Bernon had gambled away their funds and had taken some loans out to attempt to hide his losses. Regardless, his wife found out and a long conversation was had. Amenie was both unwilling and unable to leave her husband, and Bernon was remorseful that he had let his addiction continue unchecked for so long. However, what was done was done, and fearing what might happen to his wife and child when it came time to pay back what he owed Bernon used the last of his coin to purchase some old farmland in La Noscea. The family fled Ishgard, leaving their home and their name behind to settle into a new life raising dodos. It was a simple and hard life, but it turned out to be quite successful for the family. Bernon kicked his habit, and Amenie was able to continue her hobbies with a whole different world of inspiration (including some perhaps questionable dodo bonnets and capes). They managed to fit in surprisingly well with the locals and the family was quite happy.

Sylvaine grew up on the farm, helping her mother and father to grow food for them and tending to their flock of dodos. She had no idea of how their family had come to be in La Noscea and had no reason to question if they came from anywhere else. As a farmhand, she was practiced with the use of both an axe and a lance (well... a pitchfork) both for their intended uses and for defending the flock from any wild dogs or pirates who might think them easy prey. In her late teens she began to feel a keen sense of wanderlust, and would often spend her days in the fields with the birds while practicing simple jumps with a proper lance.

It was on one such day that two unsavory men approached her asking questions about her father. Apparently they were debt collectors looking for "Bernon Quemilien", whom she had never heard of. They pressed her, and she continued to insist she knew nothing of what they spoke of and that the family had always lived in La Noscea. The men turned to violence to try and get what they wanted and Sylvaine gravely injured one of them before they backed off. She questioned her parents that night and learned the truth, but was forgiving to her father. After all, he had made amends the best he could and she had never seen him mistreat her mother. Though with this new knowledge of her origins in mind, she began to show interest in Ishgard itself and in learning the ways of the dragoons.

She left home a few months later, once she felt that the men who had come once before would stay away. Her journeys brought her across Eorzea, and eventually to Ishgard itself before the Calamity struck. She's since earned her dragoon armor.

Fubuki Kitagawa

madeofawesomecg: (Fubuki)
As a note, "human" and "people" here refers to the playable races in general for lack of a better term.

Birth Name: None given

Race: Kitsune (currently the form of a midlander hyur)

Tribe: Vulpine Auspice (it is noted in Encyclopedia Eorzea II that foxes are the most common auspice, and seem to develop into the "title" at the age of 100 rather than 1000)

Gender: Female, potentially gender fluid as her shape shifting develops

Age: Upwards of 100, though she isn't certain of the actual number. Her appearance would suggest she's somewhere between 19-22, and her maturity would match that.

Name Day: As with her age, she doesn't remember her nameday, but has always considered it to be sometime in late Winter. (32nd Sun of the 1st Umbral Moon, 1467)

Orientation: Pansexual

Height: 5'2"/min height/157cm

Marital Status: Single

Nationality: Technically Doman

Current Residence: Shirogane

Occupation: Being a fox

Hobbies: sticking her nose where it doesn't belong, making mischief

Motivation: To honor the memory of a cherished person

Outlook: Somewhat naïve

Disposition: Cheerful

Positive Personality Traits: Friendly, loyal, cheerful, curious

Negative Personality Traits: Chatty, curious, mischievous

Any standout quirks or behaviors? Has only been pretending to be a human for a few years, so has many strange quirks. She sniffs things often, and doesn't seem aware that she isn't hiding how good her nose is.

Rumors: Uncommon: Is it just a trick of the eye that her pupils sometimes seem to slit in direct sunlight? Rare: She got really tipsy once and her tail was out for nearly ten minutes.

Born to a three tailed mother and a single tailed father, the kitsune who would later take on the name "Fubuki" was born in a bamboo forest atop a hill. For as long as she could recall, there always lived a family of humans at the base of the hill who would cut the bamboo for crafting. They maintained a small shrine for her mother, and coexisted peacefully. The humans of import to this fox's biography would be Fujio and Fubuki Kitagawa. A grandfather carrying on his family's business and his granddaughter, left to him when his Son and Daughter-in-law passed during the initial invasion of Doma.

Before the arrival of Fubuki, the fox never cared much for human affairs. She was content to hunt and play and pester her family day in and day out. She only payed them any mind when Fujio would bring offerings to her mother's shrine (which of course were scarfed down as soon as the coast was clear) or to watch from a distance when he would come to gather bamboo.

However, this changed during the Garlean invasion. Like Fubuki's mother and father, the fox's mother went to defend her homeland as well. She fell in battle as well, leaving the young fox to mourn with her father.

Fubuki herself was just a baby when she was given to her grandfather's care, and thus became a common sight when Fujio would make his daily trips to the forest. The fox's curiosity was piqued by the small creature, and from then on she became increasingly interested in humans and their affairs.

As she grew older, Fubuki grew used to the sight of a white fox lingering around their home or following her to the nearby village at a distance. The fox never approached, seeming to enjoy watching her at everything from daily chores to secret weapons training with young rebels as she reached her teenage years.

For her part, the fox begged her father to train her in the ways of shapeshifting. It was his greatest skill, and she often would spy him wandering in an assumed form in the nearby village, looking for a book to read or to mingle with the locals. As she was still young, it took years before she was finally able to assume a human form (and after a time that she forgot the placement of human ears that her father described as "utterly horrifying"). Unlike her father (or her mother before her passing), the fox was unable to assume a form of her own design, settling instead for that of the girl she had admired for so long, albeit with eyes the hue of her own. Overjoyed at having perfected it after so much time and effort, she would often make trips of her own to the village, buying foods with magicked currency (read: an illusion cast over several twigs and a half-eaten bug) and taking in the feel of a busy market. If there was occasional confusion, ("Didn't I just see you this morning?" "You seem much more upbeat than usual, did something good happen today?" or an overlong glance toward her face "Something seems different about you today...") it never deterred the fox, and the actual Fubuki seemed none-the-wiser.

Of course in an occupied country there can never be only fun and happy days. The rebels grew impatient and set a plan of attack in motion. Fubuki would be a member of a team to infiltrate the normally-lightly guarded landbase for Castrum Fluminis to send a message that Doma was still a proud nation. Blinded by her need to avenge her parents, and her anger at what seemed to be inaction on the parts of the larger rebellion, she wouldn't listen to her grandfather's pleas to stay away from the fighting. After overhearing an argument between the two, the fox grew worried as well. She confided in her father, who promised to follow Fubuki and keep her safe.

The night of the operation came and went with no news, and no return from either of them. A week stretched into two, and it became clear that it had not only failed, but had been so utterly crushed that news of the attempt hadn't spread. When the fox finally found the courage to wander toward the landbase, she found only the lingering scent of human blood and a discarded black fox corpse riddled with holes. Heartbroken, she fled back to the forest.

It was Fujio who later found her, curled next to her mother's shrine where she had been for days. He brought with him the first offerings since that night, it was obvious he too had been mourning. Normally he would leave the food, offer a prayer and then go about his business but he sat and spoke, sometimes to the fox and sometimes to no one in particular. He spoke of the joy his family had brought him, and of the dreams he had for them. Before he left, he gently pat the fox's head before reminding her with a smile that meat buns taste best when still warm.

His words had moved her, and after a night of contemplation (and perhaps just a bit of crying into pork buns) the fox had made up her mind. She assumed the girl's form and made her way to the old man's home, claiming to be Fubuki and apologizing for making him worry. The old man at first seemed shocked, then seemed to consider her for a moment. Finally, he embraced her tightly and welcomed her home.

They lived together for years after, finding comfort in each other's company as the fox did her best to recreate the girl she had watched for so long. Eventually Fujio's age began to catch up with him, and he found himself bedridden under "Fubuki"'s care. He called to her before she went to bed one night, and took her hand in between his own. He spoke to her of life, and finding happiness. Finally, he looked her in the eyes with a smile and thanked her. Not as his granddaughter, but as the young fox who had done her best to fill his final years with joy. Despite her best efforts, she hadn't fooled him for a moment but he had still treated her as cherished family. He told her not to mourn him because he would be seeing his family again soon, and that she should go and live a long and happy life so she could meet hers at the end with no regrets. She promised him she would, and stayed with him until he passed in his sleep.

Pets: A griffin named Dyri

Datura was 8 when Ala Mhigo fell to the Garleans. Her parents paid off a group of people who were fleeing to Gridania to take her to safety with them, intending to leave at a later time. The caravan made it as far as the Fringes before it was attacked. Being small and able to hide in the confusion, Lavena was the only survivor. After pulling herself together and waiting for the soldiers to leave, she was able to make it into the Black Shroud with other refugees she met along the way. With the rush of people, of course the Hearers were turning them away left and right. The group was allowed passage through the wood to Thanalan, and Lavena along with them. Upon arrival, and seeing how cold the city and its people were, the group disbanded and everyone began to fend for themselves. Lavena scraped by until her early teens, when she began dancing at various taverns to earn money. Calling herself "Datura Moonflower" after a plant her father would use to make poisons from, she made a name for herself and began to earn enough money to stay in the city proper. She became very bitter toward her fellow refugees, especially the adults who had only cared for themselves as she grew up.

Eventually she began to dance in the city proper as well, earning herself more money than the smaller taverns throughout Thanalan but also the attention of the more unsavory and skeevy folk of Ul'dah. She began to look into other options, and found she had a talent for thaumaturgy and registered as an adventurer at Momodi's behest. Her disposition improved greatly as she adventured and helped others, and she grew to enjoy her life. Through the combination of her adventuring experience and her admiration for Raubahn, she enlisted in the Immortal Flames and has served there since.

Following the freeing of Ala Mhigo from the Empire, she's been struggling to find her relationship with her homeland as well as the whereabouts of her family. She still gives performances on occasion and has modified the basement of her home into a stage and bar.

Current Residence: Shirogane

Occupation: Weaver, Adventurer

Patron Deity: Menphina

Likes: Warm and clear weather, The Sun, Patterned Fabric

Dislikes: Cold weather, Slimy foods and creatures

Hobbies: Sunbathing (which she has to be careful of as she burns very easily), a little gardening but mostly of the vegetable variety

Motivation: To live happily with Convel in the way they want to

Outlook: Life is something to be cherished, and enjoyed with those you love.

Disposition: Cheerful, sometimes bratty

Positive Personality Traits: Cheerful, friendly, sentimental, loving, curious

Negative Personality Traits: Bratty, stubborn, impulsive, curious

Rumors: A common rumor is that she's been exiled along with her husband Convel. An Uncommon Rumor is that their exile was her fault.

Relationships: Her husband Convel

"The Kagon are a nocturnal desert tribe who worship Nhaama, goddess of the moon and mortal enemy of Azim, god of the sun. Instructed by their goddess that to step into the sun is to succumb to the evil of Azim, they spend the daylight hours in their tents, only emerging to hunt and migrate at night. The result is an uncharacteristically pale skin for a group of people living in an almost eternally fair-weather locale."

From a young age, Chimeg was a curious troublemaker. It wasn't rare to see her being scolded by her mother after causing some mess or some kind of trouble for other members of the tribe. As a community, she was raised closely with Erden(Convel) and the meek boy would often find himself swept up into whatever game she was playing that day.

She harbored a an immense fascination with the sun, and would push the limits of how late she would stay outside before dawn break and would often be the first to rise at sunset. Her mother was a devout worshiper and would often warn her against this sort of behavior. Her father was kinder in his warnings, focusing less on the threat of exile and a life of misery and horror than on simply asking that she think about her actions.

As she grew older she grew bolder as well, still sweeping Erden into trouble with her wherever they should go but also pushing the limits of what she could get away with. She tested the patience of not only her mother but also of the tribe elders.

One day she plotted to stay awake long after everyone else had fallen asleep and to sneak out to see the daylight. She told Erden about her plan in secrecy, and the boy tried his best to warn against it. Chimeg would hear none of it though, insisting it would be fine and that she wouldn't be caught. Her attempt went well at first, as she carefully crept out of the tent in as much silence as she could muster. Finally she felt the warmth of the sun's rays on her skin. Already thinking of what she could tell Erden when they would meet at breakfast, she turned to return inside only to find the tent shut tight.

Her mother had caught her, and refused to allow her back in. She told Chimeg she was a heretic, having allowed Azim's influence to turn her away from Nhaama and that his evil would fester inside her heart forever more.

Chimeg wailed and tried her best to convince her mother to allow her back inside. And though the commotion woke many other members of the tribe it was clear no one would listen to her cries. Heartbroken, she carried on for a long while before she heard Erden emerge from his family's tent. He would join her in exile, if the alternative was never seeing her again.

Eventually the two made their way to Kugane, where they found the merchant Kurasame who was looking to hire help on his vessel headed to do trade near Eorzea. In exchange for passage instead of pay, the two were allowed aboard. They got along well with the crew, particularly with a highlander woman who helped them select new names at Chimeg's request.

They arrived in Limsa, calling themselves Adelind and Convel Kurasame and registered as adventurers. Eventually the two would officially marry and purchase a home in Shirogane.

Miah Maimhov

madeofawesomecg: (Miah)

Gender: Female
Race: Miqo’te
Clan: Keeper of the Moon
Citizenship: The Black Shroud
Age: 46 (1531)
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Nameday: 17th Sun of the 3rd Umbral Moon
Guardian: Menphina
Occupation: Hunter/Family Matron
Things to note: Scars of a puncture wound from a lance on her left calf, and a tendency to favor her right leg as a result of that injury.

The head of the Maimhov clan, and once mate to Raih’li Bajihri. She is a no-nonsense taking but caring mother, who does her best to provide for her children and teach them the way to survive.

Miah has spent her entire life traveling the Black Shroud as a nomad, first with her family and their network of tribes and later with her mate and children. She was fast friends with the third son of the Bajihri family, and the two spent their childhood hunting together. They welcomed their first daughter into the world in the early spring of her 19th year. They would go on to have a second daughter and one son, though Miah’a has never met his father. Raih’li had a ritual he would follow of asking for Menphina’s blessing for his children. For this he would travel to her mark in the Central Highlands of Coerthas, but when he went to pray for their yet unborn son, he was never heard from again. Miah gave birth to her son on the final day of the year, with the assistance of a close friend from another traveling tribe.

Miah was devastated by the supposed death of her mate and still mourns his loss to this day. She has never taken another lover.

She has an intense hatred for Wood Wailers and by extension the elementals themselves. When Qhas was five summers old Miah and Riah’li took her along to observe a hunt from a distance. During this hunt Miah was pierced through the leg by a spear thrown by a young wood wailer who mistook her for a poacher (”mistook” being said lightly, as it isn’t likely the boy cared about her hunting practices so much as her race) Raih’li came to her rescue before the Wood Wailer could retrieve the spear and finish her and carried her home to tend to her wound and comfort his daughter. She had a dislike for them previous to this, but it cemented her hatred as she spent months out of commission and relying on Raih’li and Qhas while also watching over Rhaq.

Miah is of the opinion that the elementals are fickle and greedy. And though she doesn’t go so far as to upset them or poach, she believes them to be responsible for the lifestyle of the Couerlclaws and similar bandits and poachers.

Age: 27 (1550)
Sexuality: Bisexual Aromantic
Nameday: 21st Sun of the 2nd Astral Moon
Guardian: Menphina
Occupation: Hunter/Bowyer
Things to note: Scar on left cheek

The eldest daughter of the Maimhov clan, Qhas is stern but caring. From a young age she has carried the responsibility of caring for both her mother and her younger siblings. She has a fondness for children, and enjoys instructing them in the ways of the hunt when the family settles close to another. She has a habit of gifting custom bows to those who come of age.

Despite her stern attitude she is as guilty as her sister of doting on their younger brother Miah’a, and it is partially because of her that he is so sheltered. She shares her mother’s disdain of the Elementals and Wood Wailers, partially due to witnessing an attack on her mother by a Wood Wailer when she was young.

Occupation: Hunter

The middle child of the Maimhov clan, Rhaq is outgoing and friendly. An ace with a bow, Rhaq took down her first antelope on her own at the tender age of 9. She has a fondness for climbing trees, and the sweets made by a trade partner family. She dotes upon her younger brother, and was the type to try and dress him up as a child. She’s often scolded by Qhas for being somewhat childish, but the two have a good relationship.

Despite her bubbly outlook, she takes hunts very seriously and has been known to stalk prey for days on end to ensure the perfect shot. It was her who taught Miah’a how to dress game.

Miah'a Maimhov

madeofawesomecg: (Miah'a)

Gender: Male
Race: Miqo'te
Clan: Keepers of the Moon
Citizenship: Black Shroud
Age: 20 (1557)
Sexuality: Gay
Nameday: 32nd Sun of the 6th Umbral Moon
Guardian: Menphina
Occupation: Adventurer

A member of the nomadic Keeper tribes of the Twelveswood, Miah'a has some basic archery and very basic culinary skill, along with knowledge of how to survive in the forest. He is short, standing at only 5'2" and weighing what you’d expect of a young male who has lived off the land for his entire life. His hair is a deep blue, growing in lighter from the black hair he was born with (as evidenced by the black hair at tips of his ears, hair and tail). His skin is an ashy gray, suited for hiding among the foliage during nightly hunts. His cheeks and nose are painted with bright pigment that he keeps in a small sack on his person at all times. Not only is it his way of showing piety to Menphina but it is a way to feel close to the family he left behind. The pigment matches his light blue-green eyes and is mostly water-proof, though scrubbing while bathing removes it completely. He is in the habit of re-applying when he feels it has begun to fade. His bow was carved by his eldest sister Qhas with a string made of sinew hunted by his second sister Rhaq. While it has seen better days (he has been using it for many summers) he is sad to see it unused, and will likely keep it as a treasure for the rest of his days.

When traveling the Black Shroud he does his best to avoid Wood Wailers, sometimes taking the long way around or sneaking over fences to avoid confrontation. Miah'a is also uneasy around Chocobos, due to a lack of exposure to them before beginning his journey.

History

Miah'a is the eldest and only son of his family. Along with his two sisters and mother he lived among the trees on the outskirts of the Black Shroud for most of his life. His father is assumed dead, though his mother doesn’t speak much of him and his sisters dare not tell him anything about the situation in fear of bringing her sorrow. Miah'a is indisputably the baby of the family, both in actual age and in treatment by his sisters. The two girls loved to spoil him and teased him often. They would take on the heavier portion of the hunting and usage of game, and when they did allow Miah'a to do it himself they would often coach him from nearby. Though this would frustrate Miah'a he lets his sisters do as they pleased, as arguing with them wasn’t worth it when they were obviously enjoying themselves. Despite this, Miah'a does have knowledge of how to survive in the wilds, as his family wandered the Black Shroud and lived off the land. Unlike the poachers of the Coeurlclaws they took only what they needed from the forest and nothing more. Though intent isn’t so important to an eager-to-please Wood Wailer, a caution for which Miah'a still carries with him to this day. During his tenth summer his mother arranged a coupling with the daughter of another wandering clan, to be carried out when the two were of age. Miah'a has done his best to avoid this situation, but seeing his mother’s excitement as his sisters spoke of their own potential mates breaks his resolve after long.

Unknown to his mother, Miah'a has no interest in females. He feared bringing this to light and so he fled before meeting his to-be mate. Though his heart aches for love of his sisters and mother, his fear of disappointing them or being cast out far outweighs the dangers of setting out on his own. He’s now found himself in Gridania, a place he knows neither his mother nor sisters would dare travel (it isn’t hard for a Wood Wailer to mistake you for just another poacher, a fact his mother has had the spear wound to prove) and a place he hopes to make a new home.

Miah'a spends most of his time in Gridania, where he puts his archery skills to use as an adventurer for hire. His nervous nature around Wood Wailers makes him seem suspicious, so usually he prefers to lay low in areas away from them.

After visiting Limsa Lominsa for the first time, Miah'a has taken up the culinary arts. He would often help his mother and sisters prepare their meals and is eager to further his abilities.

Personality

Timid and likely to shirk from most confrontation, Miah'a always tries to be polite and friendly. While he enjoys the company of others he finds himself nervous in the larger crowds found in Gridania. He may seem absent minded and drowsy at times, as he tries to adjust his nocturnal schedule to better suit living with his new diurnal neighbors. Afraid of the stigma he believes to be attached to it, he isn’t likely to announce his sexual orientation to new company. Though he dislikes confrontation with others, this does not extend to battle with enemies. As he grew up living off hunted meat he has no qualms with killing for food or taking a beast out before it does the same to him. His manners do not extend to poachers, whom he blames for the bad reputation of Keeper Miqo'te in the black shroud.

Raih’li is a gregarious miqo’te who resides in Camp Dragonhead, where he serves as both an errand boy and a squire of sorts. About twenty years ago he was gravely injured in a horde attack near the mark of Menphina, where he was giving his respects to the goddess. The knights of the nearby settlement tended to him while they tended to their own and upon his recovery he asked to stay on to repay them for saving his life.

He suffered a blow to the head during the battle, and has found himself without memories of anything but the most basic information about himself (such as his name, nameday and age as well as retaining his skill with a lance). This condition has not gotten better with time, and the chirurgeons have informed him that he’s not likely to recover them.

He has embraced his new life fully, and doesn’t give in to depression about the life he may have lost. To him it would be more of an insult to those who surely had loved him if he chose to wallow in sorrow.

Was raised by his mother and father for much of his life, his mother passed away during the calamity. Due to stigma from being half and half he struggles a bit with trying to retain both of his parents’ cultures. Because of this, he took on his father’s name in a slightly altered way so as to not cause suspicion.

His mother (Kylene Twining) met his father (X'dhen Tia) as she was working as a waitress in a Thanalan tavern. His father was on a journey to strengthen himself in order to challenge the Nuhn of his tribe, and had gotten into a brawl with another patron. He caused some serious damages to the bar during the fight, and had to work off his debt to the owner. During this time he and Kylene fell in love and he abandoned his quest to stay with her. They moved to a more remote location outside of another town when Kylene became pregnant and this is where they would happily raise Aldred for much of his life.
